1. Add an
Armature.
Instructions:
- Space Bar
>> Add >> Armature
or
- User Preference menu >> Add >> Armature

2. Create a custom
shape for your armature.
Instructions:
Space bar
>> Add >> Mesh >>
Cylinder
or
User Preference menu >> Add >> Mesh
>> Cylinder
Shape it into
a ring

3. Select Armature
-- Pose Mode
Instructions:
- 3D View menu >> Mode box >> Pose Mode

4. Enable Shapes
button
Instructions:
- Buttons Window menu >> Editing (F9)
- Armature tab >> Display Options >> Shapes
button

5. Replace default
Armature shape with custom shape.
Instructions:
- Buttons Window menu >> Editing (F9)
- Armature Bones
tab >> Selected Bones
- OB:
Enter the name of your custom shape.
