9.  Add a UV Texture to the material

Buttons Window menu >> Editing (F9)
Mesh tab
UV Texture: New
Give it a unique name

 
  
10.  UV Unwrap UV Texture

Game object:  Edit Mode
U key
or
3D View menu >> Mesh >> UV Unwrap
Select method to UV Unwrap

  
11.  Map UV Texture to color map or normal map

UV/Image Editor menu >> Image box
Select image
Map UV Texture to image
 



  
12.  Render the image

F12
or
User Perference menu >> Render >> Render Current Frame
