4.  Add more control points to the path.

Note:
  • Control points allow you to change the shape of the path.

Instructions:
  • Bezier Circle selected.  Edit Mode
  • Select all control points.
    A key toggles Select/Deselect All
    or
    3D View menu >> Select >> Select/Deselect All
  • Subdivide
    W key >> Subdivide
    or
    Buttons Window menu >> Panels >> Editing (F9) button
    Curves Tools 1 tab >> Subdivide button
  
   
5.  Shape the path of your race track.

Note:
  • The path is a 3D object.   The shape can be changed on all 3 axis.  X, Y and Z.
  • Use control points to make it the shape you want.  Add more control points if you need them.

Instructions:
  • Bezier Circle selected.  Edit Mode
  • To move:
    Select a center point.
    G key to grab.
    Move mouse
  • To shape:
    Select an end point.
    G key to grab.
    Move mouse
  
  
6.  Create a 2D outline of the width of your race track

Note:
  • To keep things simple, this tutorial uses the simplest possible 2D shape (a line) for the road but the same steps apply for any 2D shape.  (Tunnel, road with a guard rail, etc,)

Instructions:
  • Bezier Curve.  Object Mode
  • Add Plane
    Spacebar >> Add >> Mesh >> Plane
  • Plane.  Edit mode.
    Select 2 vertices. 
  • Delete them, leaving 1 edge.
