Render to Texture -- Blender 3D Game Engine


  

  
1.  Add a camera to be used for render to texture.

Note:
The camera's video will be used to render to texture.
In other words, if you are using render to texture to create a security monitor, this camera is the security camera whose video will be displayed on the security monitor.

Note:
For this tutorial, position the camera so it watches the spinning Suzannes.

Add camera
Spacebar >> Add >> Camera
or
User Preference menu >> Add >> Camera
Give it a unique name
Open Transform Properties
N key
or
3D View menu >> Object >> Transform Properties
Give it a unique name




  
2.  Add the object to be used to display render to texture

Note:
For this example, I will be using a plane for the display.
For this example, I will be naming it Monitor.

Add a plane:
Spacebar >> Add >> Mesh >> Plane
or
User Preference menu >> Add >> Mesh >> Plane
Give it a unique name  -- Object Mode
N key
or
3D View menu >> Object >> Transform Properties
OB:  Monitor



  
3.   Add a material to the Monitor.  Give it a unique name.  Set to shadeless

Add a material -- Object Mode
Buttons Window menu >> Shading (F5) >> Material buttons

Add New
Give it a unique name

Set to Shadeless
